Coastal Protection & RestorationInitiated and secured funding for the first ever comprehensive hurricane protection and coastal restoration study for Southwest Louisiana, and passed legislation to expedite the study and proposed projects.
Sponsored legislation to dedicate 80% of the Deepwater Horizon fines to coastal restoration and for Louisiana to get its fair share of funds.
Led the efforts in assisting the regions recovery and rebuilding after recent hurricanes and stores, including fighting to ensure that Rita is not “the forgotten storm”.
