Lafayette, LA – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., (R-Southwest Louisiana), today announced a $3,420,292 grant for the Lafayette Regional Airport by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
“The Lafayette airport remains critical to our region’s economic growth, and this grant will help to improve runway safety,” Boustany said. “Lafayette must continue to be a transportation hub to promote opportunities and job creation throughout Acadiana. I commend the airport’s continued dedication to safety and serving the people of Lafayette.”
Director of Aviation for Lafayette Regional Airport, Greg Roberts, said, “We are very grateful for this funding of $3.4 million to start phase one of the runway safety area enhancement project that will eventually total $25 million. Not only will this improve safety at the airport, but it also creates good jobs and puts money into the local economy. We want to thank Congressman Boustany for his assistance.”
The grant will be used to improve drainage, pavement, lighting and signage for the airport’s runways.
